Looking back on dad's artwork it is clear that unlocking the human experience was at the core of his obsession. While that desire to humanize natural moments comes through easily in his landscapes, it truly shines in his portraiture.

Many of his characters reflect part of his inner self, at least who he wanted to be, how he wanted to see himself - a jazz musician, a fisherman, a street sweeper. While dad has a strange obsession with fame, he was equally obsessed with the everyday and way that different people lived their individual lives.
